The NCAA March Madness road to the final four is possibly the most exciting playoff system in all of sports. The NCAA itself is arguably more popular than its counterparts of professional sports: the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, and yes soccer lovers, the MLS.
Now, there are many things I learned as I watched the NCAA basketball tournament over the last 4 weeks. The final product of the tournament is not always the best (way to shoot 18% from the field Butler). College cheerleaders aren’t as good-looking as the dance team. And the NCAA LOGO STINKS!
I found myself paying more attention to the poor composition of the typography rather than the game that was being played. Has the NCAA lettering always been off center like this? Some might argue that the designer was practicing the rule of thirds. *Hint* that usually works best when there are other objects within the composition. Maybe the designer was hoping the bevel and embossed Web 2.0 effect would distract people from noticing the off center atrocity?
